I have seen the movies but they don’t have much to do with with Death and Taxes either, because the game talks more about the inevitability of death, not killing for fun or simply deciding who is good or bad. #Make your own grim reaper scythe series^^ĭuring the Death and Taxes development, people brought to my attention to this series about a guy working in an office FOR the Grim Reaper: PurgaTony. The game is not inspired by these series but I highly recommend it, it is very entertaining ^^. Some other people have brought out the similarities with the Death Note. So this was the story how it all got started. But it didn't exist so I had to start making one. The moral dilemma sounded a bit similar to the one in Papers, Please! and I knew that I really wanted to play a game like that. What if the Grim worked by not moving from door to door but in a more impersonal way, from an office? I realised that this would make some really interesting moral questions to put players into. I came up with the idea for Death and Taxes when I watched this short animation: If there are some other good games with Grim Reaper, let me know. I will list some cool games here, where you CAN become the character or the character has a big role in the game: Usually he has an action role where he uses his scythe as a weapon and most of the times he is also not the main character in the game. There are not many games about death as a character. Dark humor and jokes about death would make a long blog post so maybe some other time. (Hey, psst, kids, I heard you like some dank death memes, I post some morbid death themed humor for my own and others entertainment on our Facebook page) Also the idea that you can have babies with the Death incarnation in The Sims is quite ironic. I find something really funny about this picture. They are very extremely morbid and dark characters, and because of that they have a great comedic value as well. Why are Grim Reapers so loved? There might be different reasons: They have a distinctive style, they have power over people, they have style, they are respected and feared. I especially like the grim reaper characters in: The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, Terry Pratchett's Discworld, Meet Joe Black(I was a kid when I first saw this movie, ok? :D). I'm sure you have a favourite Grim Reaper too? Let me know in the comments! :) Everybody knows what the character usually looks like: A skeleton in a long black robe and with a scythe. In western media, death is usually pictured as a bad character but I really enjoy the idea that he is more neutral in character. It's good manners not to reap at a party.Leene here this time, so excited! This is my first post here so let's start with some light topics: Let’s talk about.ĭeath has been personified for a long time and Grim Reapers are everywhere in the media - cartoons, books. You'll be the toast of any Halloween gathering to which you bring this blade! Especially when you're friends realize that you haven't come to claim their souls. It doesn't have any kind of power other than the power of coolness! The sinuously twisted handle is molded to look like ancient wood, and is topped with an amazingly detailed skull-head blade. One look at his blade will tell you the answer: It's too cool to trade for a newer model! Product Detailsįeast your eyes on our exclusive Grim Reaper Scythe - it may be your last sight! Just kidding. You might wonder why the Reaper doesn't swap his trademark scythe for something less obvious - like a deadly pocket square, or a poisoned nail file. Do you ever wonder if the Grim Reaper ever gets tired of the screaming and general panic that always accompanies his appearance? Maybe the guy just wanted to have a nice toasted coconut mocha at this overpriced coffeehouse, but now the other patrons are crying and fainting and bribing him for just three more years.
